Seward Helicopter Tours operates during the summer months giving Glacier Dog Sled Rides and Scenic Helicopter Flights. We are a small, tight-knit crew and are extremely passionate about what we do.
We love our jobs and we think getting to share Alaska, especially our glacier dog sledding tour, is one of the best ways we could spend our summer.
Glacier Life
Our glacier guides work in shifts of 2-3 guides and routinely spend 4-7 days living remotely before coming back down to Seward where they have 2-3 days off. While on the glacier, they are responsible for taking care of approximately 30 sled dogs. After tours are done at the end of the day, many of our guides choose to continue to work with the dogs whether teaching them new commands, taking them on walks on the glacier, or running short teams to work on team dynamics.
On the glacier, guides enjoy the company of the dogs, the serenity of the Alaskan wilderness, getting amazingly tan, and living a much simpler lifestyle. As a company, we routinely get together and have BBQs, host company dog sled races, and enjoy each other’s company.
At each season’s end, many of our crew go on to new endeavors like college or simply taking time off. We have been extremely fortunate over the last several years to have a high retention rate amongst our seasonal employees. Each winter we have happily kept a few guides on board to help us train and prepare for the 1,000 mile long Iditarod.
Our Owners
Seward Helicopter Tours is family owned and operated. Travis Beals and Sarah Stokey have been running Seward Helicopters since the summer of 2013 and each day ask themselves how they could be so lucky.
We are fortunate enough to do what we love and even more blessed to make a living doing it.
